Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, was sentenced to 14 days in judicial prison by a special court. The court added that it would not prevent the media from covering the story.
"If media is reporting, they are reporting. As long as protests are peaceful, it is fine," the court of special judge M K Nagpal said.
After the CBI's attorney claimed that the media was giving the case a "political colour," the judge made his comment.
"In view of the submissions made and further keeping in view the facts that investigation of the case is still pending to unearth the entire conspiracy and the role of other persons involved therein, the accused is remanded to JC till March 20, 2023 and he is directed to be produced before this court on the above said date at 2pm physically, as has been requested on behalf of the accused. Let his custody warrant be prepared, as per the applicable rules and guidelines," stated the court while sending Sisodia to judicial custody. The CBI in its application did not seek custody of Sisodia but stated that it can seek the same later.
