The Central Bureau of Investigation questioned former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi in relation to a land-for-job railway recruiting scheme in which her husband, ailing RJD leader Lalu Prasad, their two daughters, and 14 other people are accused of participating.

The CBI team reached Rabri’s 10, Circular Road residence and questioned her for about four hours while RJD supporters staged a dharna outside alleging misuse of central agencies by the Centre. The Economic Offences Unit of CBI had registered an FIR in New Delhi on May 18 last year and subsequently filed a chargesheet in the railway scandal in which aspirants allegedly gave more than 100,000 square feet of prime plots in Patna as bribe for Group D jobs to Lalu’s family members when he was railway minister in the UPA government (2005-2009).

Shiv Kumar Yadav, Rabri's attorney, stated that "Madam has responded to all the queries posed by the CBI." Rabri, a member of the state legislative council, travelled to the Upper House to participate in the budget discussion after the CBI team had left. It was the CBI's job, which they completed before departing. They will nag us repeatedly, but we won't submit, she added.

According to the CBI FIR, during Lalu's tenure as railway minister, 12 people were appointed as "substitutes" in six different railway zones between 2004 and 2009 in exchange for seven instances of land transfers. The agency claimed that Lalu took advantage of his position to gain financial advantage for himself and his family.
