After playing a significant role in the 2022 UP assembly elections as BJP’s poll in-charge, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan was awarded the same responsibility for the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls, reflecting his rising stature as a key strategist in the party hierarchy. Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and the party’s Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai have been appointed co-poll in-charge for the state. BJP president JP Nadda made the appointment ahead of the assembly polls for which the poll dates are likely to be declared in the second week of March. The party brass took into account the electoral challenges in the state of not only combating the incumbency factor but also the fact that the party has never won a majority on its own.
