Singer Honey Singh complained that Canadian-based gangster Goldy Brar had threatened him over the phone, prompting Delhi police's special cell to file an FIR and launch an inquiry. Singh claims that Brar demanded Rs 50,00,000 from him and threatened him with severe repercussions if the money was not paid. Brar is wanted in connection with the murder of Punjabi pop musician Sidhu Moose Wala.
Singh met the Delhi police commissioner and demanded security. Another businessman also met the police brass after receiving extortion calls from another gangster, sources said. “On receipt of the complaint, prompt action has been taken and a case under sections of criminal intimidation and extortion has been registered,” the spokesperson added.
Singh told the media that Brar had made threats to him and his workers after filing his complaint. He further stated that for the first time in his life he received a life threat and now he and his family were scared. “We received some voice notes also. We received these threats from international phone numbers. I have requested security cover,” he said. Singh did not reveal the contents of the complaint.
