Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh found a special mention at a luncheon hosted by the US State Department in honour of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke how India is a part of their daily lives now. He mentioned Jhumpa Lahiri’s novels, samosas, and Mindy Kaling’s comedy.

The US State Department with US Vice President Kamala Harris hosted Modi at a luncheon, during which, Blinken honoured India. He said, “Here in the US, India is a part of our daily lives. We enjoy our Jhumpa Lahiri novels over samosas. We laugh at the comedies of Mindy Kaling. We dance to the beats of Diljit at Coachella. And yes Mr Prime Minister and I can say this from personal experience, we keep ourselves more or less fit and healthy doing yoga.”

Hours after the remark, Diljit shared a clip of Blinken's address on Twitter. On Friday night, posting the video on the social media platform, he added Indian and American Flags. Dosanjh created history in Coachella this year as he became the first Punjabi singer to perform at the music festival in Indio, Coachella Valley, California.

On the work front, he is all set to feature in Netflix’s ‘Chamkila,’ helmed by Imtiaz Ali. Set to stream in 2024, the movie also features Parineeti Chopra. It presents the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, Amar Singh Chamkila who rose to the heights of popularity in the 80s due to the sheer power of his music. He was shot dead at the age of just 27.
