New polls reveal a five month high on support of Theresa May's handling of Brexit, with 55 per cent of the population approving of her approach to the talks. Orb International's latest survey shows a four per cent boost for Theresa May following the start of Brexit talks at the end of March.
It appears that the weight has shifted from the issue of immigration to trade talks, with people now more keen about the latter. The survey found that 47 per cent voters disagreed that “controlling immigration (was) more important than access to free trade.” Managing Director of Orb International, Johnny Heald said, “Since November the British public are slowly becoming more comfortable with the idea of Brexit, and each month, more are approving of the way in which the government is dealing with negotiations. However, as these talks develop, it's interesting that the public is increasingly concerned more about free trade agreements than immigration marking a reversal of the preference aired during the campaign.”
This is the third successive month where over half of the British population approves of the way Brexit negotiations are being conducted, and disapproval is at its lowest level yet.
