We are sorry for the delay to our customers journey. The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority."

25 Indian students asked to leave US varsity as they lack coding skills

WASHINGTON: A US university asked at least 25 Indian students to leave as they lacked the ability to write computer programmes, a necessary qualification. The Western Kentucky University did allow them to complete their first semester, but now they are given the option of either enrolling in some other US university, or return home. Chairman of the Western Kentucky's computer science programme, James Gary said, "almost 40" students did not meet the requirements of their admission. They were offered remedial help but it didn't work out well for all. "If they come out of here without the ability to write programs, that's embarrassing to my department," he said. The university recruited students through a recruiter "to lift enrolment and revenue in the face of deep state budget cuts". However, the staff later realised several students were not fulfilling basic needs.

Pakistani woman burns daughter alive over love marriage

LAHORE: An 18-year old was doused with kerosene and set on fire for defying her family and marrying a man she loves. Police official Sheikh Hammad said the killing took place in Lahore and the mother of the victim was immediately arrested. Suspect Parveen Rafiq confessed to tying up her daughter Zeenat Rafiq to a cot with the help of her son Ahmar Rafiq, and setting her on fire. This isn't a rare incident. Statistics show nearly 1,000 women are killed each year in so-called "honour killings" for violating conservative norms on love and marriage. Just last week a school teacher was set on fire for refusing to marry a man twice her age. Zeenat Rafiq had gotten married last month before a court magistrate to a motorcycle mechanic Hasan Khan. Her mother and uncle had visited the couple asking them to come back and have a proper marriage ceremony to not be labelled as someone who "eloped".
