Brick Lane Circle's third annual conference on the story of Bangladesh and Bangladeshi people, at home and in the diaspora will take place on Saturday 25th April 2015, 11am-6pm at Brady Arts Centre, 192-196 Hanbury Street, E1 5HU.
There will be many dignitary guest speakers present throughout the day, such as Dr Muhammad Ahmedullah, Dr Ashraf Hoque, Dr Momotaj Islam, Dr Shamim Miah and Dr Shamea Y. Mia.
Dr Muhammad Ahmedullah has PhD in Epistemology and Political Theory. He has worked for many years in inner city regeneration programmes in the UK. He is also the secretary pf Brick Lane Circle.
Dr Ashfaq Hoque is a research associate at the Department of Anthropology (UCL) He is also a member of the core research team of the UCL Democratic Cultures of South Asia project.
Dr Momotaj Islam is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, working in the NHS for over 20 years. She completed her Clinical Doctorate in 2000 and doctorate research was on psychopathy.
Dr Shamim Miah is a senior lecturer at the University of Huddersfield. He is the author of Muslims, Schooling and the Question of Self-Segregation.
Dr Shamea Y. Mia completed her PhD in January 2015 at Goldsmith University. Her thesis was entitled: Navigating Histories- An Exploration of Second Generation High Achieving British Bangladeshi Muslim Young Women Living in North-East London.
