Mohali: Almost three years after Dr Deepak Kaura, a Chandigarh-based cardiologist with a controversial life, was found drugged to death in his SUV in Dera Bassi, a Mohali district court convicted three persons for the murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Lured by greed, Deepak Sharma, his wife Honey, both residents of Panchkula, and Vishal Vij, who was a junior engineer in the PGI - had conspired to abduct Dr Kaura for ransom and ended up killing him on the night of December 20, 2011. It was Kaura's wealth and the reputation that made the three hatch the plan. Kaura lived a colourful life and this was also the reason behind his wife Dr Babita Kaura's suicide in 2005. He was sentenced to four years in prison and was out on bail when he was killed.
