England's Lionesses cemented their place in history, successfully defending their Women's European Championship title with a thrilling penalty-shootout victory over Spain. This monumental achievement marks the first time any senior England team, male or female, has defended an international title, and also the first occasion a major trophy has been won by an English side on foreign soil.

Having fallen behind in the first half, England orchestrated a second-half comeback, relying on its exceptional substitutes, notably Kelly, echoing their previous knockout-round victories against Italy and their penalty shootout win over Sweden. England successfully defended their Euro 2025 title, defeating Spain in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw. To commemorate this extraordinary success, the Lionesses are celebrated with an open-top bus parade.

The celebratory procession took the squad along The Mall, culminating in a ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial directly in front of Buckingham Palace. Before their public celebration, the team is scheduled to fly home from Switzerland and will be received at 10 Downing Street by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.

Thousands of jubilant fans are expected to line the parade route, eager to witness their heroes. The iconic ‘it's coming home’ chants are sure to echo through the capital as supporters embrace the national pride sparked by the Lionesses' triumph. This historic win and the ensuing celebration not only underscore the team's exceptional talent and resilience but also further elevate the profile of women's football, inspiring a new generation across the United Kingdom.
