under Kenya’s Africanisation policies, East African Asians have faced many hardships over the years. But one thing has always held us together: resilience
not just the ability to survive, but the strength to thrive in the face of adversity.
To bring this community together, on 6th April 2025 the newly formed East African Asians organisation held its first-ever golf tournament and networking dinner at Mill Green Golf Club. More than just a social gathering, the event was a powerful reminder of what can happen when we come together. Walking through the clubhouse, selling raffle tickets and chatting to guests, I genuinely felt like I was part of something bigger.
During the dinner, speakers reflected on the importance of unity, cultural identity, and the strength of the diaspora. Their words highlighted how our shared experiences, have helped shape a community that’s adapted without losing its roots. They spoke about the East African Asian journey, as one of resilience and strength across borders, while still holding on to our own identity,
As a British East African Asian, I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this event. It gave me the chance to connect with my heritage and reflect on the journey of those who came before me. Their quiet strength lives on, not just in our stories, but in everything we continue to build.
