Smriti Mandhana leads RCB to first WPL 2024 title

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured its first title across franchise leagues by defeating Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the final match of the Women’s Premier League's second season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

In pursuit of 114 runs, Smriti Mandhana guided Royal Challengers with crucial contributions from Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry, leading the team to victory in the final over.

Earlier in the match, Shreyanka Patil played a pivotal role for RCB, claiming four wickets and helping restrict DC to a total of 113 runs in 18.3 overs.

Sophie Molineux pivotal over tilted the match in favour of the Royal Challengers as she dismissed Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Alice Capsey in a single over. Molineux's exceptional performance earned RCB nine wickets, marking the highest tally by any team in WPL history.

Additionally, Shreyanka Patil clinched the purple cap with 13 wickets, while her teammates Asha Sobhana and Sophie Molineux shared the second spot on the highest wicket-taker list. Notably, star all-rounder Ellyse Perry claimed the orange cap with 347 runs in nine matches, boasting an impressive average of 69.40.
