Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has won his fifth Ballon d'Or trophy as the world's best soccer player and gained parity with Argentine striker Lionel Messi, who finished second in this year's voting. "I feel very happy, it's a fantastic moment in my career, I've been waiting for this for a long time," the Real Madrid star said at the awards ceremony in Paris. "This year has been great, we won the Champions League and La Liga and, on a personal level, I was a top scorer in the Champions League," Ronaldo said. This is the second consecutive year that the Portuguese star has been honoured with the trophy, which he also won in 2008, 2013 and 2014, while Messi prevailed in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015. "I hope to play at this level for a few more years, I hope the battle with Messi continues, things happen for a reason," the 32-year-old Ronaldo said.
