Ruturaj hits 7 sixes in an over!

Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad created a world record by hitting seven sixes in an over in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Uttar Pradesh. He had scored a total of 220 and remained unbeaten against the team total of 330 in the quarterfinals in Ahmedabad on Monday. It swelled his credentials for a comeback into India’s ODI and T20 teams. Pune-based Ruturaj left the India team after the white-ball home series against South Africa. The opener now has four hundreds for Maharashtra spread over both white ball formats within a span of eight innings. The sequence reads: 112, 114, 124* and 220*. Brief scores: Maharashtra 330-5 (Ruturaj 220; Kartik Tyagi 3-66) bt Uttar Pradesh 272 in 47. 4 (Aryan Juyal 159; Hangargekar 5-53).

Narendra Modi Stadium sets world record

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the maximum spectator attendance during the 2022 IPL final, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said. The stadium has a capacity of 110,000 which is nearly 10,000 more than Melbourne Cricket Ground with an official capacity of 100,024. “Extremely delighted & proud to receive the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a T20 match when 101,566 people witnessed the epic IPL final at @GCAMotera's magnificent Narendra Modi Stadium on 29 May 2022. Afghanistan have cemented their place in next year’s ICC ODI World Cup in India after the second ODI against hosts Sri Lanka in Pallekele was abandoned due to rain. The UAE will host Afghanistan's 'home' matches over the next five years, the Afghanistan Cricket Board said. Security concerns have kept touring teams away from Afghanistan, who played their 'home' matches in India in recent years. That perception has only deepened since the country's Taliban takeover in August 2021.
