India's medal tally at Asian Games touches 69 on Day 10

India's Parul Chaudhary wins gold medal in Women's 5000-metre race. Mohammed Afsal won the silver medal in the men’s 800m final. Tejaswin Shankar wins silver medal in men's decathlon.
Meanwhile, in a spectacular performance at the Asian Games on Tuesday, Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain secured her place in the 75kg category final by defeating Thailand's Baison Maneekon with an impressive score of 5-0 in the semi-final.
India has accumulated a total of 69 medals at the 2023 Asian Games, consisting of 15 gold, 26 silver, and 28 bronze.
Indian boxer Preeti Pawar concluded her campaign at the Asian Games with a bronze medal. In the 54kg semifinal match, she faced the reigning flyweight champion, China's Chang Yuan, and despite her commendable efforts, Preeti was defeated by a score of 0-5. It's worth noting that Preeti had already secured an Olympic quota, adding to her achievements in the sport.
Earlier in the day, India vs Nepal cricket match, India's captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bat. This match marks the beginning of the Indian men's cricket campaign at the Asian Games. India concludes their innings with a formidable total of 202 runs. India started off aggressively, reaching 50 runs within the first 4 overs, raising expectations of a much higher total. However, Nepal deserves credit for their comeback, taking 4 wickets for 50 runs, including the dismissal of Jaiswal. In the end, Rinku Singh played an explosive innings, pushing India's total past the 200-run mark.
Following the successful performance of the women's team, which has already secured its place, the men's team, under the leadership of Gaikwad and guidance from coach VVS Laxman, is determined to achieve nothing less than success.
Earlier on Monday, India started its day by winning 2 bronze medals each in speed skating 3000m relay taking India's haul in the ongoing Asian Games zoom past 55. On Sunday, India won 15 medals of which 9 came in athletics events. Track and field athlete Avinash Sable shattered the Asian Games record as he comfortably secured India's first men's 3000m steeplechase gold medal at the continental meet.
Tajinderpal Singh Toor defended his men’s shot put crown at Hangzhou with his sixth and final attempt of 20.36m. Harmilan Bains in women's 1500m claimed silver while Murali Sreeshankar missed gold in men's long jump and settled for silver after falling short by just 0.03 seconds. His second-spot finish saw a best of 8.19 meters, bettered only by China's Wang Jianan with 8.22m. Ajay Kumar Saroj and Jinson Johnson secured second and third positions in the men’s 1500m.
