India set for Ireland T20Is ahead of England tour

Reigning world champions India will play two T20 Internationals against Ireland on June 26 and 28 in Belfast, ahead of their white-ball tour of England, the BCCI announced. It will be India’s first return to the venue since 2007.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed the short tour, noting India’s previous visits to Ireland in 2018, 2022 and 2023. The announcement came shortly after Ireland’s high-performance director Graham West revealed Paul Stirling’s resignation as T20I captain and confirmed the series.

India will tour England for a white-ball series from July 1 to 19, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs across venues including Manchester, Nottingham and Lord’s, after hosting Afghanistan in June.

India have drawn strong crowds on recent Ireland tours, and with back-to-back T20 World Cup titles, the England series is expected to attract big audiences, especially with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli possibly making their final tour.

The team will also have an eye on the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, entering as one of the favourites after finishing runners-up in 2023.
