Time for pre-wedding disclosures

Monday 15th December 2014 12:56 EST

As a community we are evolving in this country and from time to time situations arise which need a solution. Young men and women of the Hindu/Jain community who are imminently getting married should sign a disclosure of their sexual orientation. Both the boy and the girl planning to marry should declare their position in a legally binding document. This will avoid any deception and give both the parties legal protection if anything goes wrong. As a minimum both individuals should bring the matter up and get a clarification. This proposal should be endorsed by National Council of Gujarati organizations,  Oshwal Association, Lohana community, Patel community and all other communities. Organizations that are doing a splendid job in facilitating matrimonial introductions should also encourage all potential couples to sign the disclosure.
