Let’s face it

Sorry but I don’t think it’s a good idea for Asian Voice’s regular letter writers to meet up and exchange views over a coffee. I would prefer to share my views not with a handful of people but the many thousands who read this lively and informative newspaper all over the world every week.

Those who feel they would like to meet one another must realise that once they express a view in such company it is dead and not worth repeating in the letters page. The essential appeal of a letters page is that everything in it is fresh, original and full of surprises.

If readers want to know what the regular letter writers look like, that is another matter and could easily be resolved by each writer submitting a close-up photo of his or her face with their letter. Such an innovative idea (putting faces atop published letters) could make us regulars famous and pursued by autograph hunters across the globe, thanks to Asian Voice.
