With the Conservative victory with overall majority and their promise to remove hated caste bill and now to review, address lack of crematorium facilities for British Indians has uplifted entire Indian community.

As British law making is lengthy, complicated and cumbersome, there will be an in-depth investigation, even opposition from lobbies with vested interest. So it is of utmost importance that our focus remains intact, polemic, resolve firm and unity undiluted and never to take anything for granted, until it is signed, sealed and delivered.

So many promises, so often by renegade politicians have still remained unfulfilled. It would be interesting to observe Labour response, support for our cause who lost many marginal seats by upsetting Indian and Jewish communities.

Chancellor has promised to help fulfil our aspirations and praising our family values, work ethics and law abiding credentials. We should also acknowledge hard work of HFB, in particular President Trupti Patel and PRO Lakshmi Kaul who all worked tirelessly behind the scene to make Chancellor aware of our needs.

Kapil Dudakia has kept many issues affecting us alive and in public domain through his penetrating, hard hitting column “Kapil’s Khichadi” in AV.

Time to remain aloof, retrogress, being pawn in power politics is over. Let us consolidate our hard earned unity by joining political parties’ enemas, influencing their policies from inside for our common good.
