Dinesh Sheth of Ilford highlighted an exasperating problem here last week - the nuisance telephone callers who are either trying to sell you something you don't need or attempting to trap you into a scam and making off with any money you might have. One persistent phone call I receive almost daily is the recorded voice of a posh lady who expresses concern that I have not yet claimed any PPI. I simply put the phone down.
Every day I find myself saying "Sorry, not interested" to a stream of callers and ringing off. People less polite than myself might tell them to "go away" or words to that effect. Internet scams are also flooding people's inboxes and should be deleted without opening them.
