Dravidian Communalism in IIT Chennai

Tuesday 16th June 2015 08:30 EDT

IIT Chennai is one of the top technological universities in India. It was started by the Indian government with the help of Germany. The recruitment is based on tests in all India basis on merit. It appears a certain percentage of seats are reserved for educationally backward communities. It is not surprising a large number of Brahmins from all parts of India study there.

There are several Hindu spiritual study groups such as Vivekananda, Hare Krishna, Vyasur, vashist and so on operate in the campus. On the other hand there are several anti national right wing political groups and one such group is Periyyar Ambedkar circle.

E.V. Ramaswami Naikar who is the moving sprit of the Ambedkar Perriyar study circle (APSC), has done everything in his power to create deep schisms in the Hindu society in South India by his ‘Hate-Brahmins and Hate-Hindus programmes’ during the four decades 1940-1970.

After the BJP came to power they are vocal in criticising the present government and invited Tessta Stesilvad and she criticised and insulted Modi government. Several anti Hindu and anti-Indian leaflets were struck in the campus. The group worked against BJP during the last election in the state.
