Your columnist Alpesh Patel recently impressed readers with what his application would have looked like if he went for the post of director-general of the Confederation of British Industry, addressing it to the prime minister.
Mr Patel is indeed a clever and talented guy with brilliant ideas on how to deal with everything from the national deficit to Europe and getting the best out of high-growth markets, exports, investments, business start-ups, youth education, jobs and tax, all backed by a stunning array of qualifications and experience.
If I were prime minister David Cameron I would have no hesitation in pointing a finger at him and saying: "Alpesh Patel - you're hired!"
