Would £400 fines stop fly-tipping?

Fly-tipping has become a scourge of modern time, fuelled by the selfish attitude of people, lack of respect for environment and sharp decline in moral standard. Some one million fly-tipping crimes take place every year that cost councils £800 million, the money they badly need for social services, road repair and similar essential services Councils provide in their boroughs.

The new spot fines of up to £400 will be introduced this autumn, aimed at ordinary householders, as two third fly-tipping involves rubbish from home owners that people can easily take to Council dump yards. It is already illegal to employ unregistered waste removers and if inspectors find your name and address in the illegally disposed waste, they will knock on your door. It will be up to us to provide proofs, in the form of receipts, that we indeed employed a genuine, authorised waste disposal firm.

These free loaders are blighting our streets and beautiful countryside to make a quick buck at our expense, as the cost of cleaning comes out of Council rates we pay. Let us hope these measure works for the good of the nation.
