No use for small coins? I recently worked for a national charity shop, with more than 700 stores throughout the UK. On the counter was a jar for change into which, every day, more than £1 was donated. Simple maths makes that more than £200,000 a year raised in this manner nationwide.

The Charity Retail Association estimates that there are 10,500 charity shops in the UK, which, simply, equates to more than £3m each year for these good causes.
