Further to “Washington tightens oil sanctions on Iran in effort to block export markets” (April, 23): the US decision to end waivers on Iranian oil imports will not only hurt Iran; it will hurt India too.
While the US may be right to inflict sufficient economic pain on average Iranians for them to threaten the current regime’s survival, what moral principle, if any, is served in punishing Indian citizens, who are not even remotely connected to the Iranian regime or its nuclear weapons programme?
