The Gujarat poll is the most hotly contested, bittery fought assembly elections in living memory. Both sides but especially Congress has no qualm, no conscious in using not only foul language, calling PM Modi “Nitch” but even allegedly colluding with Pakistan to make Congress’s heavyweight politician Ahmed Patel the next CM of Gujarat. It is alleged that Pakistan’s envoy met former PM Manmohan Singh and former Vice President Hamid Ansari at Mani Shankar Aiyar’s house to format a policy, united front to defeat BJP in Gujarat, Modi’s home state, after Congress suffered humiliating defeat in UP, even losing in Rahul’s stronghold of Amethi in recent local polls.
Furthermore it is alleged that former Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, along with Pakistan High Commissioner met Congress leaders behind closed doors. Who can forget apparent heir Rahul hugging Chinese diplomat in public during height of Dockham crisis when China was determined to occupy this strategic piece of Bhutanese territory that would give China a strategic military advantage in future conflicts. There is something profoundly disturbing about Congress’s fixation with election strategy, unique combination of caste, creed and religious divide, arrogance and self-righteousness, dynastic rule. Has Congress no conscious, no pride, no self-respect that it is willing to collude with the enemy of the nation, sell India short in order to gain power by any means, fair or foul. I wonder how the past great leaders of Congress like Gandhi, Nehru, Shastri, Bose and Sardar who sacrificed so much, including their lives would view this betrayal, selling their motherland short to grab power! If people of Gujarat elect Congress, influenced by political posturing, I am sure most of us, non-resident Gujaratis will feel betrayed beyond belief. Another worry is that is PM Modi, so far a tour de force is losing his rhetorical brilliance!
