More downsides to leaving EU

If the majority vote is to leave the European Union we shall be breaking up not a seventy year relationship, but a two thousand years relationship.

Every year Europe registers 260,000 patents for new inventions, admittedly some may not be significant. The telephone, the printing press, the combustion engine, aircraft, joint inventor to the world wide web, cinematograph, eye glasses, etc etc were invented there.

EU's experiment in seventeen countries giving up their own currencies and adopting a common currency in 1999 was revolutionary and unique in the world. EURO currency now has captured 30% of international trade. World trade has grown 3 times world GDP in the last fifty years. Consider the iPhone. It costs $200 to produce. It is sold for $600.

EU has evolved gradually over the past seventy years or so by democratic debate in European Parliament and by majority voting of 62% rather than 51%.

EU is dynamic, vibrant, friendly, supportive where the strong supports the weak, energetic, innovative, clean, efficient, with more equal societies than UK or USA and  with better and cheaper services than UK.

It is a land of Leonardo da Vinci. Picasso. Mozart, Dante, Catholicism, Charlie Chaplin, Sophia Loren, royalty inter-married to British royalty, Monet,  Channel, Boss, Ralph Lauren, etc etc.

We need to continue to be members to learn from them and emulate them.
