Letter writers’ convention

Monday 31st August 2015 16:26 EDT

While letter writer’s convention is an opportunity for regular contributors to socialize, put face to names, meet its popular, iconic editor CB, Kamal Rao, Urjaben and Rupanjana, enjoy harmonious atmosphere in Shakti Hall, birthplace of ABPL Publication, never the less to make it mandatory, as suggested by one contributor with absentees being treated as inauspicious is indeed uncharacteristic, born out of ignorance, living in “Ivory Tower”.

Some contributors to “Your Voice” column are grandeur, life-members, illuminating Asian Voice with their brilliant writings, phraseology for decades, take pride in being integral part of AV/GS since its inauguration. Some of these intellectual gushers, loyal omnipresent contributors are in their late seventies, early eighties, in poor health and mostly housebound but darling of the loyal readers.

They wisely use their time serving readers and community at large. No matter how much they would like to attend, reality makes it impossible without being detrimental for their physical wellbeing. Others may have social, family commitments. Most letter writers are close-knit community, living check by jowl, harmonious lot at ease with each other without being fiduciary, often meet privately.

We may be absent physically but present spiritually, praying for the success of the Seminar. Our best wishes to all, success guaranteed beyond realm of reality. Hopefully gathering will remember absentees with magnanimous understanding, appreciation and affection they rightly and richly deserve.
