Below is a letter that appeared on page 14 in the August 19th issue of The Economist.
India has not only been successful in it’s ‘rush to expand the electricity supply (“Powering ahead”, July 29th); it has done so by stressing renewables. More than ten gigawatts of solar capacity has been added over the past three years. A combination of government support and increasingly attractive costs pushed India into second place (after China) in the Renewables Energy Country Attractiveness Index for 2017.
