Gujarat caste violence

The recent violence against Dalits in Una, Gujarat, is not only wrong it is the most despicable act of social intolerance. The Dalits’ sin as perceived by the so-called upper caste Hindus is that they skinned four dead cows. Therefore they had to be taught a lesson so that they don’t do it again. The inhuman and barbaric beating of Dalits is supposed to do with ‘gau raksha’ – protection of cows. During summer season in India every year a large number of stray animals die because of very high temperature and lack of water and vegetation. These so called ‘gau raksha’ upper caste Hindus do nothing to protect starving cows. But they become very concerned when they are dead. They could have addressed the issue through dialogue and discussion. Instead they resorted to commit violence. This nature, this psychology is uncivilised and against the interest of Hinduism and Hindu society.

What are Hindu problems? Hinduism teaches Advaita – the philosophy of non-dualism or oneness. In practical life they practice caste discrimination and social inequality. It is the caste discrimination that has led many Hindus converting to Islam and Christianity. This has been going on for many thousands of years.
