Faith Schools

In his letter he says that faith schools play a very important role as the children there share the same views etc.  They also build an important understanding of family traditions.  These are all valid points but what he hasn't said is that most faith schools have children of a single faith and no other children are allowed to enrol.  Even the Catholic schools on the whole are only for Catholics.  The whole point of living in this country is to develop an understanding of people and faiths other than our own and indeed to learn how to be part of this country.  My particular concern is with Muslim schools where there are only Muslim children.  I think it is crucially important for all of us to be part of the whole and not separate ourselves.  Family traditions should be taught by the family and as for conforming we need to conform but this can be done without losing our own identity.  There are plenty of places of worship and indeed people who can guide the children.  As for bullying or isolation this is a preparation for life, it is better to learn how to cope with it when you are young.
