Energy Revolution

In 2015 Tesla an American company unveiled a device which hailed new era of cheaper home generated electricity. The device a wall mounted battery, stores energy collected by roof mounted solar panels. A spokeswoman for Ofgem, the energy regulator said at the time this provides storage of solar energy both at domestic and business level.

The govt. announced new rules last week coming into effect over the next year which will make easier for people to generate, store and even sell energy to national grid! If successful, it will save consumers £17bn to £40bn by 2050. It has been reported that Britain has more solar farms than any European country and is leading in the research to produce small batteries with maximum storage capacity. The technologies will give flexibility to use solar energy and electricity from national grid when needed, like hybrid cars.

Hence, the Govt. has launched a £246.m investment into battery technology in a move that can bring down household bill. This includes £45m to establish a centre for battery research and will be spearheaded by Engineering and Physical Science Research Council with a hope that it will make U.K. a world leader in the design and manufacture of electric battery, making it more accessible and affordable.

The nearly fulfilled vision has immense possibilities not just for Britain but countries like India where sunshine is in abundance but to make the planet earth green and clean.
