Your detailed coverage of reservation campaign is comprehensive. Anyone would concur with you that dialogue is best course to redress the grievance. It appears that Hardik Patel’s hard work and soft approaches got negative response, resulting in anger.

It may be assumed that Hardik Patel was scapegoat for Congress, AAP and  Nitish to dent Gujarat's role model image.  Hardik forgot how Anna Hazare was silenced / Baba Ramdev was attacked at midnight/ a sadhvi and military officers jailed. Thus Hardik is lucky to get short detention.

Why Patidars are suffering in spite of contributing billions to government, via diamond trade, land ownership, farming, remittance by foreign diaspora etc. Is this campaign a signal of diminishing returns from agricultural occupation? Is there some dire situation lurking behind prosperity of Patidars? Is Hardik angry at some professional and very prosperous people in some states badly exploiting OBC status, and where forward class (Brahmins) are suffering.

Patidars are unquestionably most prosperous/ therefore capable to lift whole nation on its shoulders for long period. Why do they have to opt or OBC status with meager concessions?

Both CM and PM has emphatically said NO by imposing 5000 para military to restore peace. Please insist on reservation based on economy status rather than caste.
