Being a longstanding advertiser in your publications and one of the oldest sponsors of the Asian Achievers Awards, my attention was drawn to a front page article in Asian Voice about the Asian Achievers Awards. I read it thoroughly and concur with the views expressed in the article.
The issue that was raised in the article about the recent proliferation of Awards is indeed worrisome and I say this as a concerned member of the Asian community and a commercial sponsor. Awards such as yours are sacrosanct due to the immense public service they have been doing to the Asian diaspora by recognising their blood sweat and tears which has today taken them to a place of envy where they rightly belong.
I am afraid that new entrants such as British Asian Achievers Awards by naming themselves similar to yours can blur the distinction between established and respected Awards such as yours and pretenders. It is important for publications such as Asian Voice and Gujarat Samachar to publicly highlight and educate members of the Asian community and commercial sponsors about this distinction so that they are not misled into getting involved with Awards that do not serve any worthy cause whatsoever.
