Bengaluru: Former PM and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda broke his silence on the sex video scandal allegedly involving his grandson Prajwal Revanna, stating that neither he nor his family has any objection to legal action being taken against the Hassan MP who is reportedly holed up in Europe. However, he described the allegations against his MLA-son HD Revanna as “manufactured” to malign his family.
Gowda remarked: “We have no objection to action being taken against Prajwal, considering the allegations against him. Justice must prevail, and action should be taken according to the law of the land.”
Defending his son, who is facing charges of sexual harassment and kidnapping, Gowda said: “The cases against Revanna are fabricated. People are aware of the circumstances surrounding the allegations and the two FIRs filed against him. He got bail in two cases, and a judgment in another is expected soon. I won’t comment more as the matter is in court.”
When asked about attempts to tarnish the image of his family, Gowda said it was true. “There are several people connected to this case. I don’t want to name anyone. Kumaraswamy (his other son) has already said govt must act against all those involved in this case and ensure the women get justice and compensation. I concur with his statement,” he said.
Responding to a query on the allegation by arrested BJP leader G Deverajegowda on deputy CM DK Shivakumar offering him £10 mn to defame Kumaraswamy, and that state Congress president being behind the circulation of pen drives, Gowda said Kumaraswamy will respond to it. He also expressed displeasure at media camping in front of his house ever since the scandal broke out.
