Jaganmohan takes oath as Andhra CM

YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at the Indira Gandhi stadium in Vijayawada. The rest of his cabinet will be sworn-in sometime next week, sources said. Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath while Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin, and a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) delegation were in attendance. TDP chief and former CM Chandrababu Naidu refrained from attending the ceremony citing prior engagements and party meetings. He has assured full cooperation as a responsible Opposition leader. Jagan, speaking after taking oath, said his first act as CM would be to increase old age pension from the current Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,250. He said he would increase it to Rs 2,500 next year.
