CHENNAI: Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan has confirmed his entry into politics after several months of political deliberations and insinuations. “Entering politics would be like donning a crown of thorns,” he said in an exclusive interview with media. “People concerned are not interested in left or right or any isms. I think if you look at people and their concerns, the isms will find its way.”

Haasan said his political colour was black because it contained all colours, including saffron. He said there was a need for someone to clear the political quagmire and make it habitable. Haasan said he wanted to be the chief minister for people of Tamil Nadu, and while he won't promise any swift remedies, he vowed to start the process of change. “I must prepare before I take plunge. I am meeting people and will give them roadmap soon,” he said. The announcement came after he met Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Kejri has urged him to join politics and strengthen the country's fight against corruption. “We had an excellent meeting, we exchanged our ideas. He should enter into politics to fight communalism and corruption,” he said. He said both, him and Haasan shared views on various subjects and would meet again soon.

Haasan has been vocal and critical about the ruling AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu over various issues, including corruption. He recently met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram. Kejriwal was received at the airport by Haasan's younger daughter Akshara.
