HYDERABAD: In a horrific accident, a father attacked his 20 year old daughter and her newly-wed husband in the heart of the city, chopping off her left forearm and slashing her jaw. The incident came days after a Dalit youth was mercilessly murdered in front of his pregnant wife in Nalgonda district. Banjara Hills police said the father was upset over the inter-caste marriage. The victim Madhavi Chari is an OBC, while her husband, B Sandeep is a Dalit. They were in a relationship for five years, and got secretly married on September 12, despite open opposition from her father, Manohar Chary. Manohar had called them on Monday, asking them to come over to reconcile. Vijay Kumar, ACP, said, “He hacked them with the weapon multiple times. The husband suffered injuries to his head, but the wife has deep cuts on her forehand and left side of her neck area.”
