CHENNAI: The All India Anna Dravida Munntra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is now only the second state party in the history of the country to have ruled its state for over 10,000 days. The milestone was reached on Sunday, under its sixth Chief Minister. The only other state party to have ruledfor more than the AIADMK is Jammu and Kashmir's National Conference. The AIADMK has ruled Tamil Nadu for a total of 41 years, when the party stormed to power in its first elections in 1977. Former chief minister Jayalalithaa alone accounts for over half of the party's tenure. She was CM for 5239 days, ahead of her mentor and party founder MG Ramachandran. The party has seen six of its members serve Tamil Nadu- MG Ramachandran, VR Nedunchezhiyan, Janaki Ramachandran, J Jayalalithaa, O Panneerselvam, and the incumbent Edappadi K Palaniswami.
