The results of the 243 Assembly seats in Bihar, are out. Bihar assembly election results were declared on Tuesday night with the ruling NDA winning 116 seats (BJP 68, JDU 40, VIP 4, HAM 4) and the Mahagathbandhan won 105 seats (RJD 71, Congress 18, Left 16), leading ahead of the RJD-led Grand alliance.
According to the Election Commission, the NDA had won or was ahead in 124 seats, just above the majority mark of 122 for the 243-member Bihar assembly. While final results for more than 200 seats were declared, counting for the last few rounds continued till late night for the remaining seats. Many exit polls had predicted a thumping victory for the RJD-led Grand alliance in Bihar predicting that Tejashwi Yadav will dethrone Nitish Kumar-led NDA alliance.
In a series of tweets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed victory in the Bihar polls, the official result for which is yet to be declared. "Young people in Bihar have made it clear that this new decade will be for Bihar and self-sufficient Bihar is its roadmap," PM Modi tweeted.
"The youth of Bihar have relied on their strength and resolve of the NDA. This youthful energy has now encouraged the NDA to work harder than before. Every voter in Bihar has clearly stated that he or she is an aspirant and priority is only and only development. The blessings of the NDA's good governance again after 15 years in Bihar shows what Bihar's dreams are, what Bihar's expectations are," the prime minister added.
"..We are satisfied that NDA got an opportunity to give new confidence to the mother power of Bihar in the past years. This confidence will give us strength in advancing Bihar".
Bihar elections with 243 assembly seats received its exit poll predictions early on Monday. Reports suggest that the Mahagatbandhan (MGB), has a clear edge over the incumbent National Democratic Alliance (NDA) which is a close competitor but trailing. Even without the actual counting of votes, Referring to Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav as 'first youngest CM of Bihar', posters have been placed in parts of Patna. The posters were put to mark Tejashwi's birthday. His elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav believed that the election victory will be a birthday gift to his brother. According to online exit poll predictions, the RJD-Congress-Left alliance is most likely to get between 169-191 seats, while JDU-BJP-HAM alliance will receive between 44-56 Assembly seats. This exit poll prediction gave the MGB a clear majority between 139-161 seats, while NDA might get between 69-91 seats. The survey agency also predicts three to five seats for Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party. The ABP-CVoter, meanwhile, predicted a hung assembly in Bihar, giving MGB 108-131 seats. It predicted NDA may win 104-128 assembly seats, with both groups having a possibility of forming the government. It has stated that LJP may emerge as the kingmaker, securing up to five seats. CNN News 18-Today’s Chanakya predicted 180 seats for the MGB, with only 55 seats for the ruling NDA and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Times Now-CVoter predicted that the NDA is expected to get 116 seats while the Grand Alliance is projected to get 120. Republic TV-Jan ki Baat predicted that MGB may win between 118-138 seats, while NDA may trail between 91-117 seats. It has also given LJP five to eight seats.
