Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a stinging attack on the ruling DMK during a massive NDA rally in Maduranthakam.
Addressing a crowd near Chennai, the Prime Minister dubbed the current administration the CMC government, asserting that the acronym now represents ‘corruption, mafia, and crime.’ He declared that the countdown has begun for the party's exit as the state prepares for Assembly elections scheduled for April or May 2026. Modi accused the DMK of prioritising dynasty politics over democratic accountability and criticised their stance on the Karthigai Deepam festival, labelling them enemies of Tamil culture.
Countering the Prime Minister's double-engine growth pitch, Chief Minister MK Stalin retaliated, dismissing the slogan as a “dummy engine.” Stalin highlighted that non-BJP states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala are outperforming BJP-governed states in development indices.
While Modi touted a ₹3 lakh crore central allocation to the state over the last 11 years, Stalin accused the Centre of creating hurdles for state-led progress. With the election mere months away, this high-decibel exchange marks the official start of a fierce ideological battle between the Dravidian model and the NDA's national vision.
