Chandigarh: The state unit of BJP asked its elected representatives of different municipal councils and corporations in Punjab to work hard to meet the expectations of the people. In a meeting to assess the results of recently concluded civic polls, Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma also congratulated workers for the party's "historical" win in these elections.

"The stupendous win of the party is a stamp over the good governance provided by the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that has increased faith of the people towards BJP," he said in a statement.

The newly-elected members of different councils and corporations should work overnight for the people of the state so that the party get the chance to fulfil the aspirations of voters, he said. Barring few seats, BJP had contested civic polls in alliance with SAD.

He said the party was holding deliberations to find out reasons behind its defeat in municipal council and corporation wards where the party had lost.

The meeting was attended by Cabinet Ministers Chunni Lal, Anil Joshi, former minister Tikshan Sud, state general secretary Rakesh Rathore, CPS Som Parkash, and state office bearers Mohan Lal, were also present in the meeting.
