SC orders release of Rs 100,000 to rape survivor's family

NEW DELHI: Chandigarh administration has been ordered to release Rs 100,000 to the family of a 10 year old rape survivor. The Supreme Court ordered to make a fixed deposit of Rs 900,000 for the survivor and asked the hospital to keep her medical records in a sealed cover. It also directed the Chandigarh administration to provide free medical service, counselling and other necessary help to the girl at her home in a bid to protect her identity. In an earlier hearing, the SC had sought responses from the Centre and the Chandigarh administration on a plea seeking Rs 1000,000 compensation for the victim who delivered a baby on August 17.
