Congress leader Rahul Gandhi received a new warning from Delhi Police about his statement that "women are still being sexually abused" during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar.

A team led by special commissioner of police (law and order) Sagar Preet Hooda, visited Gandhi’s residence at 12, Tughlaq Lane and asked him to provide details of the sexual abuse survivors he had claimed to have met during the yatra. “We served a notice, which was accepted by his office,” said Hooda.

According to the police, the Congress leader requested 8–10 days to respond in detail to the notification in a 10-point preliminary reply. Gandhi claimed to have met lots of individuals while on his yatra. Hooda stated that it was "a very serious problem" and added that he needed time to create the list.

Gandhi reportedly responded by calling the action "unprecedented" and questioning the sudden "urgency" of acting 45 days after making the comment. Rahul Gandhi also asked if any other campaigns by other parties, including BJP, have been subjected to such kind of scrutiny or questioning.

The Congressman said in Srinagar on January 30 that he had met several ladies during the Bharat Jodo yatra who had told him they had been sexually raped and that their families had also harassed them.

Rahul Gandhi termed the action “unprecedented” and asked the cops if their newfound urgency was related to the stand he has taken on Adani issue, even as Congress condemned the action as vendetta aimed at terrorising the leader.
