Another shocker from Haryana: 19-year-old gangraped

Sonepat (Haryana): A 19-year-old girl, who was returning home after getting her Aadhaar card ready, was raped by three people in Sonepat, Haryana, including the driver of the vehicle she boarded, the police said. The girl alleged in her police complaint that on 4 February, while she was returning from Sonepat city, three men along with the driver of the jeep she boarded took her to the fields nearby and raped her, Sonepat police station inspector Dalbir Singh, said.

A case has been registered against three accused and one of them was arrested, he said, adding that further investigation was on. The Haryana state has been marred by reports of multiple rapes in the recent past.

In January, three gruesome rape cases were reported in a matter of a week, shocking the entire nation. The body of a 15-year-old girl with her private parts mutilated and liver ruptured was found near Budhakhera village in Haryana’s Jind district, after she left home for her tution classes. Her body was found on 12 January. As many as 19 different injury marks were reported to have been found on her body.

A woman who was walking back home from work in Faridabad on 14 January, when a car with four men pulled up beside her and she was dragged inside. After raping her for two hours, she was dumped near Ballabhgarh.

On 15 January, a 11-year-old girl in Panipat was on her way from home to dispose garbage nearby when two men allegedly took the minor home, murdered her, and raped her later. The offenders had allegedly burnt her clothes after raping and murdering her, in an attempt to destroy evidence.
