President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and other senior leaders paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his memorial, Sadaiv Atal, in New Delhi on his eighth death anniversary.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president Nitin Nabin, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid their respects. Vajpayee, who served as Prime Minister three times, was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2015 for his contribution to public life.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee as an “extraordinary statesman” whose vision, leadership and commitment to public welfare continue to inspire generations.
President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tribute at Sadaiv Atal, while Vice President C P Radhakrishnan recalled Vajpayee’s contribution to India’s political and democratic journey. Radhakrishnan described him as a visionary leader, poet and statesman whose commitment to nation-building and national interests remains an inspiration.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, recalling his contribution to democracy, development and national security. He said Vajpayee’s politics was guided by the principle of “Nation First” and public service.
Home Minister Amit Shah remembered Vajpayee as a patriot whose leadership and value-based politics promoted Antyodaya and good governance.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla highlighted Vajpayee’s over five-decade parliamentary career, describing him as a powerful orator and distinguished parliamentarian. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also said his values of patriotism and public service continue to inspire generations.
