A non-resident Gujarati from Karjan, Vadodara, lost her life after she was shot by a burglar in Johannesburg. Fazila Moghal, 26, succumbed to the injury while undergoing treatment in a hospital. Family members of the deceased said a burglar broke into a house next to Moghal's. Hearing some noise, she went near the bathroom and switched on the lights when the robber fired a shot at her. She suffered bullet injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Her uncle, Altaf Jaali said, “The bullet had split into two parts after entering her body. Doctors said that she underwent two major surgeries back to back to get the pellets removed. She was conscious after the first surgery and the doctors were preparing for the next operation when she died.” He added, “Her funeral rights will be held in South Africa as we have a large number of relatives there.”
