A group of students, who demanded that they be allowed to wear a ‘namabali’ (saffron scarf) in class, apparently to retaliate the permission another group received to wear hijab in school, came to blows with each other last week, prompting the authorities to cancel exams. Police along with RAF entered Dhulagori Adarsha Vidyalaya in Howrah’s Sankrail to defuse tension. The school has convened a meeting of the managing committee, parents and the local administration to ensure peace. Dhulagori Adarsha Vidyalaya is a 50-year-old school affiliated to the West Bengal Board.
