In his first election rally in the northeast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi summed up the three poll campaigns that he has steered, saying he brought with him hope for people in 2014, trust in 2019 and ‘Modi ki guarantee’ in 2024.
“Modi ki guarantee’ is echoing throughout the nation and the northeast is a testament to this guarantee,” he said at a rally in Assam’s Nalbari, adding that under his leadership, the region has transformed into a land of possibilities from a region plagued by problems under Congress.
Tearing into Congress in Nalbari and later in Agartala, he said that while the opposition party “fostered separatism in the northeast, we considered it an integral part of India and worked towards peace and security in the region”. “While Congress had adopted the ‘loot east’ policy, BJP changed it to ‘act east’ policy,” he said, adding that Assam is poised to emerge as a global semiconductor hub, marking a historic and unexpected beginning that will accelerate the region’s development.
Attacking Rahul Gandhi and highlighting the ‘cracks’ in the INDIA bloc, Modi said: “The Congress Yuvraj, who is critical over the use of investigative agencies, is now demanding the arrest of the Kerala CM over corruption charges.”
Highlighting BJP’s commitment to ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’, the PM said there is no discrimination in NDA’s schemes which are designed to benefit all. “All eligible individuals, regardless of background, will receive free ration for the next five years.”
“A new atmosphere is prevailing in the entire country as we celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Ram in his own home after 500 years and this is a culmination of centuries of devotion and generations of sacrifice,” PM Modi said.
