Gujarat anti terrorist squad (ATS) arrested a 25 year-old man from Badaun in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly sending a threatening email to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days ago.

As per the Gujarat ATS officers report, the man identified as Aman Saxena, a resident of Adarshnagar in Badaun, had sent that email threatening an attempt on Modi’s life at a rally in Jamnagar recently.

Saxena is a BTech degree holder from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and had sent that email to take revenge from a man who was close to a girl whom Saxena loved.

An ATS officer stated that “The home ministry entrusted an investigation to the Gujarat ATS regarding the threatening email to the PMO (Prime Minister’s office). After which, the ATS began an inquiry and traced the sender of that email in Adarshnagar of Badaun.” The ATS officer said that two cops went to Badaun and acting on technical and human surveillance, nabbed Saxena from his house.

Saxena was taken to police lines in Badaun for further investigation. "Saxena confessed that he had sent that email under the identity of a man who was close to a girl that Saxena loved during detailed questioning by ATS. That individual was to be falsely accused by Saxena. However, we will investigate the issue from every viewpoint, stated a top ATS officer. The officer said that the agency will file an FIR against Saxena for sending threats through anonymous communication along with other charges of the Information Technology Act.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates that only Saxena sent that email, but if it turns out that another person was also involved, that person will also be questioned.
